Karisma Kapoor recalls bursting into tears before shooting for Dance Of Envy song alongside Madhuri Dixit in Dil Toh Pagal Hai
Actress Karisma Kapoor has made a name for herself in the Hindi entertainment industry. Having aged like fine wine, over the years, she often opens up about her professional experiences. During a time when actresses were pitted against each other, she boldly collaborated with Madhuri Dixit in the film Dil To Pagal Hai, which also starred Shah Rukh Khan in the lead. The film became one of the most-loved romantic movies from Bollywood, and their performance on the song Dance Of Envy is to date lauded by the fans.
During a recent episode of India’s Best Dancer 4, where she appears as a judge alongside Geeta Kapur and Terence Lewis, Kapoor opened up about her experience of shooting the dance-off with Dixit. She revealed that she had initially rejected the opportunity as she doubted herself and had no clue how to dance alongside the other actress. Despite rejecting the offer once, Aditya Chopra approached her again and narrated her the script while she was with her mother Babita Kapoor. Quoted by Bollywood Shaadis, the 50-year-old actress was heard saying, “My mom was also there during the narration. Toh maine kaha ki main kya karu? She said ki main aapko keh rahi hun ki yeh film aapko karna hi chahiye. Recalling the call with her mother, she revealed that the latter asked her to stop sulking and shoot the dance video, after which she immediately disconnected the call. This led to Kapoor crying even more. However, she managed to gather enough courage and filmed the song so that she could prove it to her mother.
For those who don’t remember, Karisma and Madhuri recreated their performance of the iconic song after 27 years, when the former had visited the sets of Dance Deewane. They had left their fans buzzing with excitement because of their performance.
On the work front, Madhuri Dixit was last in Amazon Prime Video’s Maja Ma in 2022. Directed by Anand Tiwari, the movie also starred Ritwik Bhowmik, Barkha Singh, Gajraj Rao, and Sheeba Chaddha in pivotal roles. On the other hand, Karisma Kapoor was last seen in the multi-starrer Murder Mubarak.
